There were some things in life that Sawyer could really do without and doing his father's dirty work for the sake of some political bag of bones was something he could not stand. This particular errand he was being sent on was something he knew he'd have to do on his own eventually anyhow, but having the added baggage of being his father's messenger was making it all that more difficult of a task. "Pa, you know I wouldn't be caught dead on that woman's doorstep if I had a choice, right?" he asked casually, sitting in the arm chair in front of his father's oak desk located in the study. His father knew of his son's past with the Jacobs middle child, and yet he was still the prime candidate for the job. "I mean, hell. Haven't I graced myself with her presence enough to last me a life time?" He placed his face in his hands, closing his eyes in attempt to relieve his headache. This man's father simply smiled and waved him on his way. Sawyer know of the task he was to follow through on, but he wasn't going to enjoy it.
After finding out where she lived, he took to the road and realized she lived as far away as she could without having to leave the city. A smile spread over his face. Obviously, there was a reason for that and he was sent to try and rectify the problem. Sawyer was the very last person that could change Rory's mind, but here he was on his way to her house. The irony of this whole thing was strange to him. Sawyer couldn't figure out why his father had chosen him -- of all people -- to try and talk this woman into coming back and joining the rest of her god forsaken family. Before meeting the Jacobs he thought his family was dysfunctional. Then again, Sawyer was part of the reason Rory didn't see eye to eye with everyone else, but instead of feeling guilty he was numb to the situation. Everything involving Glorianna Jacobs was completely turned off emotionally. However, it wasn't exactly different from any other circumstance in his life.
Her house came into view as he pulled around the corner and again his coy smile found itself present on his face. Shaking his head, he pulled his car right next beside the curb in front of her house. He was clearly visible from the front few windows of the house. Even Sawyer could act neighborly. The woman across the street was out watering her flowers and he gave her a wide smile and waved a hello to her before heading up the front steps. Rory's own front lawn was well groomed and had various plants and landscape spread out neatly all along the lot. Just the sight of domestication made his stomach turn, and as he knocked he vowed to never have a house that looked like this.
Just the person he had come here to see was standing before him. Her words were hardly a greeting and they dripped with venom. Even so, he gave her his signature smile and pulled his hair out of his face only to have it fall back into place. "Now, is that any way to speak to an old friend, princess?" he asked coolly, knowing full well that he was already standing on thin ice with her. Pushing her buttons was really what made this trip worth while. After all, it was his specialty. Rory made it so easy and the fact that Sawyer knew her almost as well as she knew herself was something he used against her since the moment they'd met. Well, after everything was said and done anyway. "Now, are you going to invite me in or are you a little rusty on hospitality?" His long frame leaned against the door jam; sunglasses hiding his eyes expression. The glasses didn't hide much, though. The grin on his face was like he had just won the lottery. Being a thorn in Rory's side was almost with being his father's errand boy.
